For nearly a century, United Way of McLean County has brought together local partners—donors, volunteers, government, nonprofits, and businesses—to create sustainable, innovative solutions to address our county’s most pressing human needs.
For decades, nearly all of our funds were raised through workplace campaigns from our county’s largest employers. All of that changed in 2017, as more and more of our area employers restructured their employee giving programs.
In the wake of these decisions, our leadership took time to consider our options on how to move forward. What resulted in 2018 was our crucial 180-degree turnaround.
Our “new” United Way now focuses our donor investments on a series of community projects designed to fill gaps between service providers. We call it our 180United approach, and it’s proving to be quite successful.
Our current investments focus on creating meaningful change – we like to call them “180-degree turnarounds” – on issues that are impacting our youth and families: poverty, youth mental health, access to medical services, and childhood literacy.
We are proud of our very own 180-degree turnaround as it has fostered an incredible season of growth and partnership for us. Here’s to another 100 years!
